Eastleigh Borough Council Policy and Performance Scrutiny Panel Meeting

There were no declarations of interest in relation to items of business on the agenda.

It was AGREED -

That the Minutes of the meeting of the Panel held on 25 November 2024 be confirmed and signed by the Chair as a correct record.

There was no public participation on this occasion.

The Chair wished the Panel a Happy New Year.

Councillor Asman advised that the Housing Group had not met but a meeting had been arranged for 29 January 2025.

The Service Director for Neighbourhoods and Green Spaces introduced the report and explained why revisions to the policy have been made.

A discussion took place with regards to the positioning of bins on the highway and assisted collections.

Councillors praised the Waste and Recycling Team for their hard work and service across the Borough.  

RESOLVED –

That Policy & Performance Scrutiny Panel considered and commented on the proposed revisions to the 2023 Domestic Waste and Recycling Policy and made the following recommendation to Cabinet:

(1)  That the Policy and Performance Scrutiny Panel recommends that an updated Enforcement Policy is brought forward to enable the enforcement of bins left on the highway.

The Panel considered the Forward Plan of Key Decisions.

It was AGREED that the report be noted.

Panel members considered their Work Programme to March 2025.

It was AGREED that the Work Programme be noted and that the Local Government Reorganisation be added to the Work Programme in due course.
