Eastleigh Borough Council Airport Consultative Committee Meeting

RESOLVED –

That the minutes of the meeting held on 3 February 2023 be agreed as a correct record.

The Committee were reminded of the Constitution of the Committee and resulting membership.

Members of the Consultative Committee were reminded of the Code of Conduct for meetings (agenda item 4) and asked to agree to abide by its principles.

The Operations Director reported that:

·  There had been no safety issues or incidents reported in the last four months.

·  Passenger numbers had continued to increase with passenger numbers for 2023 forecast at 800K.

·  Easyjet have announced flights for Winter 2023 as a result on the extension.

·  Southampton Airport were working with Eastleigh College as part of the Section 106 agreement to align some courses so the College’s output meets with the Airport’s input.

·  Events that the Airport have held were successful.

·  An update was given on routes.

An update was given on the runway extension. Works were currently on track with completion expected by mid-August. Councillor Asman complimented the Airports efforts as only one complaint had been received for vehicle noise at night and one for the noise of a pneumatic drill.

The Health and Wellbeing Board has been established. The first meeting took place on 12 May 2023 with the second meeting scheduled for 16 June 2023.

The Noise Forum were due to meet on 7 July 2023. The Membership of this Forum was outlined to the Committee.

The Airport presented the number of helicopter movements and training flights between June and September. Over the 4 months, 131 complaints from 18 households had been received with the majority of complaints from the Bitterne Park area.

The Airspace Change timeline was presented and the stages were explained to the Committee.

The last meeting took place on 28 April 2023 where Councillor Asman was appointed as Chair for the Forum.

The Group met on 25 May 2023 and discussed the agenda items for this meeting.

Councillor Savage gave a brief update on the development of a Climate Assembly in the City. A number of stakeholder events were being held before the end of the year.

There were two nominations for Appointment of Chair for 2023/24-2024/25.

It was agreed that Councillor James Duguid be elected as Chair for 2023/24-2024/25.

It was agreed that the next meeting will take place on Friday 6 October 2023 at 2pm with the location to be confirmed.
