To Elect a Member of the Council to be Mayor of the Borough
To elect a Member of the Council to be Mayor of the Borough. The newly elected Mayor will make a declaration of acceptance of office, take the chair and be free to address the Council.
(To include the announcement of the Mayor’s Consort, appointment of Mayor Cadets and recipient of the Havant Honorary Citizen Award.)

Before considering this item, the Mayor awarded Nancy Fellows with the Havant Honourable Citizen Award. Councillor Tansom spoke in support of his nomination.
Proposed by Councillor Munday and seconded by Councillor Horton, it was
RESOLVED that Councillor Munazza Faiz be elected Mayor of the Borough of Havant for 2025/26.
The Council adjourned at 10:50 and reconvened at 11:21
Councillor Faiz made her declaration of Acceptance of Office of Mayor of Havant.
The newly elected Mayor, Councillor Faiz in the Chair.
The Mayor announced that her Consort for 2025/26 would be Dr Faiz Bhatti and her Chaplain would be Dr Antiqul Bari from the Peace Centre, Leigh Park.
The Mayor gave thanks to Councillors Munday and Horton for their kind words, and further thanked all those who had supported her year as Deputy Mayor.
The Mayor announced her Charity Appeal Fund for the forthcoming year would support Stop Domestic Abuse and Off The Record and confirmed monies raised will be ring-fenced to support the residents of Havant.
The Mayor made presentations to her selected Mayor’s Cadets for the forthcoming year:
Flight Sergeant Jesse Bellamy from 2327 Havant Squadron Royal Air Force Air Cadets
Sergeant Finney Coomber from 2327 Havant Squadron Royal Air Force Air Cadets

Appointment of Deputy Mayor
To appoint a Member of the Council to be Deputy Mayor, who will then make a declaration of acceptance of office.

Proposed by Councillor Philippa Gray and seconded by Councillor Wilf Forrow, it was
RESOLVED that Councillor Paul Tansom be elected as Deputy Mayor for 2025/26.
Councillor Tansom made his declaration of Acceptance of Office of Deputy Mayor of Havant and announced that Mrs Tansom to be his consort for the forthcoming year.
Part 1 of the meeting of Annual Council adjourned until 2pm.

Councillor Munday as Leader of the Council introduced members of his Cabinet and informed members that the Deputy Leader will be Councillor Philippa Gray for the first half of the municipal year, but this role will then change to Councillor Netty Shepherd.
Councillor Munday further thanked Cllr Paul Gray for his time on Cabinet over the last year, and welcomed Councillor Netty Shepherd and Councillor Antonia Harrison to the Cabinet.
Following a vote, in which there was one abstention, it was
