3 Portsmouth Greening Strategy and Development Plan
Purpose

To introduce the refreshed Portsmouth Greening Strategy and Development Plan, which serves to inform and set the Green & Healthy City work programme from mid-2023 onwards.

RECOMMENDED that this report be noted.
Minutes Daniel Williams, Public Health Principal (Wider Determinants) introduced the report.

Councillor Barrett noted that she was very impressed with the report and stressed the importance of reviewing this as things change very quickly.  She was pleased to receive feedback from the council's amazing partners, council departments and members.  She highlighted the fact that the council is focusing on certain priority areas.

Councillor Gerada agreed with the areas identified because these clearly had the greatest need.  She was pleased that the report mentioned having connected green spaces which as well as being important to wildlife, also make streets more pleasant to walk down.  She also noted the importance of empowering residents to improvements.

Councillor Simpson agreed and noted that bridging could be improved so that residents know how to get started on their own projects.

Daniel added that they are very keen to encourage community engagement with the greening agenda.  It is hoped that the Green & Healthy City Community Fund will reopen in the near future.  The door is always open to anybody in the community who wishes to discuss it.

Councillor Barrett was pleased that two new officers will be joining the team in the future and agreed that it was important to involve residents from the start.

RESOLVED that the report be noted.
4 Update on Innovate UK: Net Zero Living Programme

Councillor Barrett was very pleased with the interest shown by many companies.

RESOLVED that the report be noted.
