Brief on IT Options Paper v0.4.2
The Committee was given an opportunity to comment on the options available for the future provision of Council’s ICT infrastructure and security following the expiration of the current five Council’s ICT contract in 2025.
The Committee noted that it was proposed to reduce the number of systems which would be provided and hosted by a network provider to reduce costs and at the same time provide more flexible and up to date business systems.
The Committee, via a verbal brief and presentation, followed by a question and answer session, examined the:
1. process for the migration of the existing business systems; 2. compatibility of the systems within the proposed new ICT structure; 3. aims and objectives of the proposed changes; 4. benefits and disbenefits of the four options available to the Council; 5. process for the comparative analysis of the available options; 6. timeline for transfer from the current system provision; 7. future telephony systems; 8. options being considered by the other Councils in the five council partnership; and 9. process for implementing a new ICT infrastructure and security provision and the budgetary implications.
RESOLVED that Cabinet be advised that the Overview and Scrutiny Committee support 1 option ((Tender to a single provider (prime contractor); private or public sector)
