Election of Chairman
To elect a Chairman from amonngst the Councillors of the District.
Minutes
Councillor Smith gave a summary of his enjoyable year as Chairman, thanking those that had assisted him. He announced over £11,000 had been raised for his chosen charities, Citizens Advice Hart and Hart Food Bank.
Councillor Dorn was proposed as Chairman for 2025/26 by Councillor Radley and seconded by Councillor Crampton. Voting by a show of hand was unanimous.
Decision
That Councillor Dorn be elected Chairman of the Council for the municipal year 2025/26. Cllr Dorn proposed a vote of thanks for Cllr Smith, congratulating him on his work as Chairman during 2024/25 and presenting him with his past Chairman’s badge.

Chief Executive's and Chairman's Announcements
Minutes
The Chairman announced that the two charities he would be supporting this year were Service Dogs UK and Mustard Seed Autism.
The Chief Executive reported that the recent Thinksafe event that welcomed 800 Year 6 children to the Civic Offices to receive a programme of safety information had been a huge success. He thanked the services involved in its delivery and announced it would be run again next year.

The Chairman of the Council will take nominations for Chairman of each Committee.
*Note:
i. Standards Committee will elect its own Chairman at its first meeting.
ii. A councillor may not hold the office of Chairman or Vice Chairman of the Council, or be Chairman of any committee of the Council, for more than three consecutive years without the consent of the Council.
iii. The Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Council shall not be eligible for election as Chairman of any standing committee but shall be eligible for election as Chairman of an ad-hoc Committee, Working Party or Sub Committee.
iv. The Committees will subsequently elect their respective Vice-Chairman at their first meeting.

To receive the Annual Report from the Overview and Scrutiny Committee 2024/25 which sets outs its workings and makes recommendations for future work programmes.

The Chair of Overview and Scrutiny committee introduced her report, highlighted the work undertaken and thanked committee members and officers for their work.
The Chairman congratulated the 2024/25 Overview and Scrutiny Committee for their diligence and thanked Councillor Worlock for her Chairmanship.
Members endorsed the work of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee and the recommendations for future work programmes and amended working methods.

Council endorsed the recommendations contained within the report and that they were to be passed on to the new Committee.
