- Document Printed minutes 27112024 1100 Education Advisory Panel 05 Mar 2025
- Document 2025-03-13 - EAP - Deployment of LSA's all phases 05 Mar 2025
Members received presentations from three Headteachers working in Primary, Secondary and Special schools who explained the important role that LSA’s played in their settings.
In response to Members’ questions, it was confirmed that:
· Ensuring subject knowledge and Continuing Professional Development opportunities for LSA’s was vital in their feeling valued and making a difference. Members were pleased to hear that many LSA’s undertake apprenticeships whilst in post.
· Recruitment was often challenging and ensuring high calibre of LSA’s was very important. A performance management framework was in place where necessary.
· LSA’s were heavily involved in SEND interventions and processes.
RESOLVED:
That the Education Advisory Panel notes the presentation.
- Document 2025-03-13 - EAP - Ordinarily Available Provision - Laura Hamson 05 Mar 2025
OAP was defined as provision made available in every part of an educational
establishment for every person, every day and was the underpinning principle that enables an inclusive learning environment to be established, so that every member can succeed. Members noted that OAP was a general term that was being used as part of a national approach to the concept.
The Panel heard that redeveloped Hampshire guidance would act as a toolkit for meeting children’s individual needs and that the implementation of the toolkit would be different for different schools.
RESOLVED:
That the Education Advisory Panel note the presentation.
- Document 2025-03-13 - EAP - Mental Health and Wellbeing in our schools 05 Mar 2025
Members noted the frameworks and guidance in place related to mental health and received an overview of research studies into children’s wellbeing. The Panel noted the range of services provided by the County Council and local partners to support young people, families and school settings and plans to establish a countywide multidisciplinary team with a focus on children with neurodivergent needs.
Members discussed the influence of social media upon children’s mental health and the importance of language and communication pathways to engage with families appropriately.
RESOLVED:
That the Education Advisory Panel note the presentation.
