Presentation on Planning Guidelines

The Principal Planning Officer gave a short presentation on guidelines that had to be taken into account when determining planning applications; in particular the aspects that could, and could not, be taken into account. This was set against the broader policy framework.

The Committee considered the report of the Service Director for Planning and Environment (Agenda Item 5) concerning use of agricultural land as Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace (SANG) for recreational purposes, with associated access, paths, landscaping, infrastructure and other works; and use of cemetery extension car park for SANG parking (amended description) (Ref: F/23/95844). There were no updates on this item.
RESOLVED –
That planning permission be granted subject to the obligation and conditions outlined in the report.
[NOTE: (A) Councillor Gin Tidridge spoke in support of the application but requested that measures be put in place to prevent Anti-Social Behaviour in the car park and to manage the car park on burial days; (B) The Committee supported the application but wanted to ensure the site didn’t become cluttered with street furniture, had thick hedgerows to avoid disturbing existing wildlife and education boards placed on site.]
