· Attended the Lord Lieutenants reception for new Mayors
Reports and photos for each Civic outing could be found on the Mayor’s Blog on the Borough Council website.
The Mayor thanked the Deputy Mayor and past mayors for attending events that he was unable to attend.
There was a full diary of events coming up including the Eastleigh Mela on Sunday 21 July, Eastleigh Late Summer Festival on 31 August, The Point’s Open Day on 7 September, Eastleigh Pride on 14 September and Eastleigh Pumpkin Festival on 12 October. The Mayor would be inviting local ward Councillors to attend events in their wards from now on.
The Mayor congratulated the new Members of Parliament: for Eastleigh, Councillor Liz Jarvis and for Hamble Valley, Paul Holmes.
The Mayor concluded his announcements with the sad news that one of the Citizens of Honour, Devan Kandiah, passed away in May. Devan was well known and respected across the Borough and he has left an enormous legacy with his work for Eastleigh Lions, Age Concern and Fair Oak Squash Club. A minute’s silence was observed.

LEADER'S REPORT
Minutes
The Leader thanked everyone for their forbearance in the rearranging of diaries to support the meetings being held in July rather than June to accommodate the general election.
The Leader congratulated the new Members of Parliament for Eastleigh, Liz Jarvis, and Hamble Valley, Paul Holmes and looked forward to working with them.
The Leader was also hopeful that the change in government would result in a more settled period for local government with genuine devolution because local decisions were better than central decisions; as evidenced by the Local Area Committee model operated by the Council.
