The presentation was interesting and informative providing information on potential training courses that could be participated in by schools and providers as well as guidance sources for use and further development.
The Committee noted that diversity was now multi-faceted within society and religious education does not apply to only ethnicity or faith and therefore engagement across all faiths and ethnicities was imperative to ensure tolerance, knowledge and understanding. Therefore, the syllabus provided by Pennine Learning encouraged the use of different resources and engagement to widen the learning undertaken.
Through the course of the presentation, it was outlined that Pennine Learning presented schools with 6 pathways to follow which aimed to ensure that the syllabus was inclusive for all throughout all key stages of religious education. These pathways are detailed as follows: -
· Expressing Beliefs
· A good life
· Personal Journey
· Influence and Authority
· Philosophy – the Questions of Life
Members had a strong and robust discussion surrounding all the issues presented to them and were given the opportunity to voice any concerns and the Committee was provided with further information on all issues raised. Members were pleased to note that Pennine Learning were keen to work alongside local authorities and all their schools whether these be authority-maintained schools or independent non maintained schools and academies in order to encourage the use of all facilities and resources.
RESOLVED that the Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education noted the information provided and were pleased with the future appointment of Pennine Learning for the provision of the Agreed Syllabus.

Officers informed the Committee that it was hoped that this would be introduced to stakeholders officially in early May 2025 with the official launce into the school curriculum in September 2025 at the start of the new school year.
RESOLVED that the timeline for the launch and implementation of the new agreed syllabus be noted.
A number of venues were put forward as possibities, which officers took note of to explore the viability and suitability of.
Additionally, dates were discussed, with officers advised to avoid Friday, 2nd May, 2025 due to local and Mayoral elections within Doncaster. Members would be unable to attend any event on this date and in order to support the launch and implementation of the syllabus they requested that alternative dates be looked at.
RESOLVED that the points discussed be noted.
