Bob Kiddle advised SACRE that as the Humanist Rep UK he has visited a number of schools to present speeches on Humanism outside of the Borough, but as yet not been invited to a Doncaster School, he hoped that this would change with the introduction of Syllabus changes.
In terms of the explaining Atheism topic highlighted within the report, Bob stated that Humanism and Atheism should not be seen as the same. He advised that Humanism was from a more positive stance.
Jane Reed advised that the Chair’s report for SACRE had been started and a lot of what is presented today could be used to populate the Chairs report along with sign posting the courses available.
She also stated that in terms of Continual Professional Development (CPD), the update will be promoted through the Education and Skills newsletter along with providing advice and guidance which is helpful to SACRE. It was noted that the launch event for the Syllabus would also be signposted within the newsletter.
In response to a query on whether a survey had been produced for SEND Schools, it was advised that no extra SEND survey had been completed. However, Julia would take this back to NATRE and provided feedback in due course.
