The Cabinet Member for Residents’ Services and Housing introduced the report which presented the Committee with the annual review of the Council’s housing allocations scheme to Residents Services Committee.
The Committee discussed the report and made the following comments:
Sought clarification on the rationale behind the income threshold increase.
Supported the proposal of holding a member briefing on the practical and technical operation of the housing register.
Sought clarity regarding how those affected by domestic violence were impacted by the housing register policies.
Suggested that improved information on the banding system be communicated to residents.
Resolved: The Committee
Notes the report conclusions of the Annual review, the summary in Appendix.
Endorses the proposal for Cabinet to increase the eligibility income levels of family applicants for joining the housing register from £50,000 to £60,000 per annum.
